How to do it

  1. Extend your left arm across your body toward the opposite foot in one smooth motion, following the hand with your eyes if it feels comfortable.

  2. Move with control and notice the muscles through your core helping guide the reach.

About Seated Cross Reach Left

Seated Cross Reach Left carries the left hand across toward the opposite foot, then returns to center. Let the chest turn only as far as the reach stays comfortable. You may follow the hand with your eyes or keep a steady forward gaze.

What to focus on

  • Keep the crossing motion smooth rather than reaching in stages.
  • Return to the center before repeating.

Make the movement smaller

Reach toward the opposite thigh and keep the gaze comfortably forward if following the hand is awkward.

A mistake to watch for

Letting the head lead a forced twist. Shorten the arm reach and keep the neck comfortable.

Practice time and pacing

The app assigns 30 seconds to Seated Cross Reach Left. Use that as a time block, with pauses whenever you need them. Move at the demonstration’s controlled pace; the timer is not a repetition target. Watch the full movement once before following along.

Set a firm chair on a nonslip surface and leave room for the arm and leg movements shown. A chair without wheels keeps the setup steady.

Where you will practice it

You will find this movement in Chair Strength & Twist, at step 7 of 16. It first appears on day 1 of the Seated Beginner 30-Day Plan. The day count below follows the extended version; shorter days can use fewer movements.
