How to do it

  1. Stand tall with both feet planted and rest the hands on the hips.

  2. Lift the shoulders gently toward the ears without moving the head.

  3. Release the shoulders fully before repeating.

About Shoulder Reach Stand

Shoulder Reach Stand lifts and releases the shoulders while the hands rest on the hips. Keep both feet planted and the head facing forward as the shoulders rise, then let them settle fully. A small vertical lift is enough to practice the release without tightening the neck.

What to focus on

  • Let the shoulders lift gently toward the ears without tipping the head.
  • Release all the way down before the next lift.

Make the movement smaller

Use a very small lift with the hands resting comfortably at the hips or beside the body.

A mistake to watch for

Holding the shoulders near the ears between repetitions. Pause and let them settle before lifting again.

Practice time and pacing

The app assigns 30 seconds to Shoulder Reach Stand. Use that as a time block, with pauses whenever you need them. Move at the demonstration’s controlled pace; the timer is not a repetition target. Watch the full movement once before following along.

Where you will practice it

It first appears on day 2 of the Standing Beginner 30-Day Plan. The day count below follows the extended version; shorter days can use fewer movements.
