How to do it

  1. Stand tall with the feet hip-width distance apart and the hands gently clasped overhead

  2. Keep the elbows slightly bent and the shoulders relaxed

  3. On the inhale, lift one knee to hip height while lowering the clasped hands to meet the knee

  4. As you exhale, gently straighten the leg and return arms to their starting position

  5. On the next inhale repeat the movement with the opposite leg

About Standing Core Reach

Standing Core Reach brings clasped hands down toward a lifted knee, then returns the arms overhead as the leg straightens. It combines an overhead reach with alternating single-leg support, so watch the leg transition as well as the hands.

What to focus on

  • Lift the knee only to a height that lets you stay upright.
  • Set the foot down with control before moving to the other side.

Make the movement smaller

Keep the arm path below overhead height and lift the knee less. Use support or choose a two-feet-planted movement if the transfer feels unsteady.

A mistake to watch for

Folding the chest toward the knee to force the hands to meet it. Let the hands and knee travel a smaller distance.

Practice time and pacing

The app assigns 30 seconds to Standing Core Reach. Use that as a time block, with pauses whenever you need them. Move at the demonstration’s controlled pace; the timer is not a repetition target. Watch the full movement once before following along.

Where you will practice it
